- and doesn’t freeze up in winter.
The system is Carbon Neutral and could also said to be Carbon Reducing as alternatives based on Wheel Wash technology would need electrical power or a diesel generator as well as operator involvement. In fact, a standard Wheel Wash system, running 5 eight-hour days a week, based on a 48kw pump, would emit, on average, 27 metric tonnes of carbon per annum. Add to that the carbon emissions of road sweepers and you are talking about a considerable amount of totally needless carbon pollution.
The DriveThru system removes mud and debris from vehicle tyres using a patented angle grid design with every 5th bar raised by 30mm - the Shaker Bar. As the vehicle crosses the unit at between 5-10 mph, the angle grid design flexes the tyre treads open and closed at least 160 times, loosening the contaminants which are removed by the shaker bars onto the void beneath the unit. The minimal vibration from driving over the shaker bars also loosens debris from the chassis and mud flaps. The spacing and angle of the bars provides 62% less surface area than a standard 'rumble strip', thereby ensuring that all the contaminents fall below, and not left on the serface of the bars.
Using the DriveThru dry wheel cleaning system will not only greatly improve and assist a site’s carbon reduction commitment, but will also save them a considerable amount of money. As Local Authorities and the commercial sector seek to reduce costs, then an effective wheel cleaning solution that uses no expensive power, operators and ancillary devices such as road sweepers and generators, will show immediate and long term huge cost savings.
The DriveThru unit never freezes up as there are no moving parts, which means that the unit is always available for use, even if we continue to have harsh winters as in the last couple of years.
The DriveThru dry wheel cleaning system can be either purchased or hire and is available as standard in three lengths; 20, 24 and 27 metres. It comes with a 10 year warranty, subject to an annual service and maintenance contract.
